| Setting The standard | | Setting the standard At our annual grading review in May, we were proud to receive an upgrade to the coveted 4 star Silver Award status in recognition of our ongoing improvements. |
| Alfresco Dining | | In August and September we added an extremely attractive covered Al Fresco dining area to our garden facilities. Built entirely from timber, decking and bamboo, the new Pergola is attractively adorned with Italian grapevines, olive trees and plants. Lantern lighting provides the perfect atmosphere for the 24 diners who will enjoy the new facility at both lunch times and on warm summer evenings. |
| £5000 raised for the RNLI | | In 2007 the King William adopted the RNLI new Hunstanton Lifeboat Appeal as its nominated charity. A Fishermans Supper in February preceeded the 'main event' of a sponsored cycle by Head Chef, Richard Briscoe (accompanied by Lili's father, Wim Euwe). Richard and Wim cycled 345 miles from Tynemouth in the East of Whitehaven on the West Coast and back again through the wild border regions of Scotland, the Lake District and across the Pennines in just 4.5 days. £5.000 was raised for this excellent cause and our thanks go to suppliers, customers and friends who supported our efforts with their generous sponsorship. The RNLI Fisherman’s Supper will now become an annual February event. |
| Staff Achieve New Hospitality Qualifications | | We are pleased to announce that in 2007, Liz Wilce obtained her BII Personal Licence, Ralph Clark completed a cellar course with John Smiths', a BII responsible Alcohol Retailing Course, and a 4-day First Aid Course. Trainee Chef, Tom Crossman, is currently training for his NVQ level 2 in professional cooking at the College of West Anglia. |
| New Planning Application Approved | | At the November meeting of the Development Control Board, full planning permission was granted for an extension to the King William which incorporates a new 30 seater garden restaurant, disabled wc, larger kitchen, a new entrance/reception area and 5 more guest bedrooms with en-suite facilities. Building work is expected to commence in October 2008 with completion in March 2009. |
