SandringhamSandringham - Norfolk Retreat of HM The Queen

Sandringham is the much-loved country retreat of Her Majesty The Queen, and has been the private home of four generations of British monarchs since 1862. The house, gardens and museum are open from 1 April - 4 November. The visitor centre & Gift Shop are open All Year. 240 hectares of which make up the woodland and heath of the Country Park are open to the public free of charge every day of the year and offer great walks for all.

Holkham HallHolkham Hall and Estate

You can easily spend all day here. After you have visited the impressive House, carry on to The Bygones Museum, followed by endless walks through The Park and around The Lake. You can even hire a boat and bicycles or stroll on to the magnificent award winning beach. Open April - November.

SharpSHARP - Sedgeford Historical & Archaeological Research Project
Distance from our doorstep: a short walk!

Founded in 1996, the Project is a long-term, multi-period, multi-disciplinary research project set up to investigate the entire range of human settlement and land-use from the earliest times to the present day. Currently one of the largest archaeological projects in Britain. The site is believed to have offered a camp to Bodicea and some remarkable finds have been made such as the famous Sedgeford Hoard & the Sedgeford Torc.
The site is open to visitors in July & August from 10.00-4.00pm every day, except Saturday. Guided Site Tours every Friday 3pm. Lectures every Tuesday during season.
Bircham WindmillBircham Windmill

Standing in the heart of Norfolk's undulating countryside, Bircham Windmill now looks as it did over 100 years ago. Today, very few windmills are left, and Bircham Mill is considered one of the best still remaining: it is the only windmill in working order in this area open to the public.

Visitors can climb the five floors up to the fan stage and, when possible, on windy days, visitors can also see the sails and the milling machinery turning. Lovely Tea Room on site and you can also hire bicycles for 1 or 2 hour trails. Open April - September.

The stone keep, built in around 1140ad, is amongst the finest surviving examples of its kind anywhere in the country and, together with the massive surrounding earthworks, ensures that Rising is a castle of national importance. The most famous period in its history was when it came to the mother of Edward III, Queen Isabella, following her part in the murder of her husband Edward II. Open All Year
